Weather permitting, you can enjoy alfresco breakfast dining
with an excellent traditional breakfast from local organic produce
with fresh fruit; including peaches, raspberries, grapes and tomatoes
from our garden when in season, Elizabeth's home made preserves and
the option of our 'celebration breakfast' - smoked salmon, scrambled
eggs and bucks fizz! The bees from next door even provide our
honey.
Bishop's
Castle is set amongst the rolling hills of the Marches, just 3 miles
from the Welsh border and is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty. There are walking festivals, beer and food festivals
to name but a few - and the now famous Michaelmas Fair each September
when most of the town's streets close for cafes and market stalls
- not to mention the live music concerts in the evenings.
One of
the great attractions are the town's two micro breweries, The Three
Tuns is the most famous having been brewing since 1642 and is now
joined by the award winning Six Bells. There are several excellent
places to eat out and all within a few minutes walking distance of
Magnolia.
The historic
Offa's Dyke path passes close by, together with the Kerry Ridgeway
(ancient drover's route) and we have direct access to the Shropshire
Way from our garden. There are many walks to suit all abilities
directly from Bishop's Castle and in the beautiful surrounding hills.
We have a selection of walking leaflets and maps for you to use during
your stay and guided walks are available by prior arrangement.
There
are many places to visit in the surrounding area with Powys Castle,
Berrington Hall, Stokesay Castle and many fascinating border towns
like the historic, and now restaurant-famed Ludlow. Wolf Watch
UK is just a few miles away and becoming very popular with our guests.
There
is nowhere else within walking distance of the town that can provide
you with such a comfortable, quiet and scenic setting as Magnolia.
